A sunny afternoon of sketching, walking and connecting with nature in one of York’s hidden green spaces.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of leading a nature journaling session at the beautiful York Cemetery as part of York Bike Belles’ Take the Green Route programme. We were joined by 23 wonderful participants, both adults and children, who took part in three journaling activities celebrating the height of summer. Together we paused, looked closely, and captured small moments of the season on paper.

York Cemetery proved to be a perfect setting for the afternoon. The peaceful lime avenue offered a shady path for our sensory walk and a pollinator-friendly area buzzed with life, bees and butterflies everywhere!

After spending a couple of hours outdoors, we returned to the Harriet Centre for tea, cake and good conversation, a simple but well-earned treat after spending a couple of hours outdoors.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and to York Bike Belles for inviting me to be part of their Take the Green Route programme this summer.
